A wonderful drink made with limes, simple syrup and soda water. This is a soda fountain type of experience. Traditionaly they should be made on demand by hand squeezing limes into the cup, adding simple syrup and soda water. Often cherry flavor is added on request.
In Oklahoma a good Limeade is hard to come across. Braum's (Ice cream, burgers) still make them the traditional way, but their staff is unskilled and the proportioning is usually out of wack. Sonic (drive-in) offers them, but theirs is a hybrid using sprite or 7-up and doesn't quite have the freshness of a well made traditional.
As one of the things that I grew up on, I didn't realize that these weren't available everywhere. When I was in Chicago I went on a mission to find one and was not successful. Luckily the local grocery store has all the right ingredients.
